Game Testing - Types of testing
Gameshastra provides its partners and clients with a low cost, quickly scalable alternative to their in-house testing teams. Our qualified teams help you concentrate on development while they work on all the Game QA and Game Testing aspects of the game production process.
Functionality Testing:
Gameshastra's functionality testing team consists of experts who are experienced at 'breaking the game'. Our functional testers are capable of tracking even the smallest of bugs. The team spends hours playing a game using a detailed checklist to ensure a complete QA run. Functionality testers hunt for all issues pertinent to gameplay including but not limited to:
  • Crashes
  • Issues with collisions
  • Verifying the game controls
  • Testing the game's stability
  • Ensuring correct scoring
  • Validating the performance of games
  • Game's readiness for release
Compliance Testing:
Gameshastra's compliance team called the "Technical Standards Group" (TSG) is responsible for making sure that the game adheres to the first party norms for all console platforms like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. The team understands that no title can be published without successfully going through the respective format QA process from the hardware manufacturer. The compliance testing team makes sure that the title is tested for compliance as rigorously and as frequently as possible.
  • The team specializes in testing on platforms such as Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, iPhone, PC as well as Mac.
  • Gameshastra's compatibility testing labs are equipped with all the latest Software and hardware dependencies to be used in test executions.
Compatibility Testing:
The compatibility testing team in Gameshastra includes testers who are knowledgeable about PC hardware and software. They check whether or not the game runs on different configurations of hardware. The hardware could include various brands of CPUs, video cards, sound cards, and input peripherals such as gamepads, joysticks and other components.

The team also does a cross-check by running the game on different hardware configurations with different operating systems. All the compatibility checks are executed following the PCTRC checklist created by the compatibility testing team. The checklist is regularly updated in accordance with the latest hardware and software versions.
MMOG Online Testing:
Gameshastra houses a testing team dedicated to Multiplayer Online Games. The team chalks out detailed test plans, and ensures that the game is thoroughly tested and ready for release in the global market. The team provides regular suggestions to the developers on how to enhance the performance, gameplay and usability of the games being developed.
